Gill Leigh

With over three decades of experience in education, including roles as a classroom teacher, ICT advisor, and senior leader, I am passionate about supporting young people to thrive. Since 2012, I have been Headteacher at a primary school recognised for its inclusive approach and strong support for children with additional needs, particularly those with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. I firmly believe in a child-centred approach, where behaviour is seen as a form of communication. Understanding the reasons behind behaviour, while setting clear boundaries, is key to helping children overcome barriers and achieve their full potential. As a governor, I understand the importance of working strategically and bringing a supportive, yet questioning perspective to school improvement. I see this role as an opportunity to contribute to the local community in a meaningful way.

Jenny also spent six years fostering young people with additional needs, working closely with families and multi-agency professionals. She is committed to promoting inclusive practice and ensuring that all children, particularly those with SEND and SEMH needs, are supported to achieve their full potential.
